High-Performance Industrial Printing for Timber & Pallets

Replace hot branding and manual stencilling with automated precision. i-mark’s EPAL-approved pallet and wood marking systems deliver high-resolution printing and durable labelling onto timber, pallets and wood packaging.

From large character inkjet printers to automated labelling systems, our solutions combine speed, sustainability, and compliance with IPPC and EPAL standards. Transforming production line efficiency across the UK timber and logistics industry sectors.

Why upgrade from Hot Branding to Industrial Inkjet?

Traditional branding and stencilling create inconsistent marks, high reject rates, and puts your insurance costs through the roof! Our large character inkjet systems print directly onto pallets and timber as they move through your production, applying EPAL logos, IPPC marks, and customer-specific identifiers in one automated process.

  • EPAL & IPPC compliance guaranteed
  • Consistent marking even in dusty, high-vibration environments
  • Real-time printing of batch codes, dates, and customer logos
  • No heat branding = reduced fire and injury risk
  • Significant insurance and maintenance cost savings

Two Different Pallet Identification Labels

There are two differences in pallet identification:

Transport Label (GS1)

The transport label (e.g. GS1), which is often applied directly to the enclosing packaging film, and the identification of the pallet itself. The identification by the label serves the organisation, traceability and safety of the goods.

Production Specification (EPAL)

The transport label (e.g. GS1), which is often The labelling of the pallet itself serves to allocate it to a specific production specification with certain quality criteria (e.g. EPAL).

Pallet Regulations & Identifiers

Pallets may include indicators, such as logos, company names, dates, codes and text. Pallet identifiers such as IPPC or EPAL are encoded using a large character inkjet printer, while the GS1 auto carrier label is applied using a automated labeller. To be allowed to continue using the corresponding indicator, such as IPPC and EPAL, the associated rules and regulations must be followed.

International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC)

IPPC stands for International Plant Protection Convention, It has been ratified by over 180 countries worldwide.

European Pallet Association (EPAL)

Based on the rules of the European Pallet Association, a pallet made from specified timber must meet the regulations concerning dimensions and components to obtain Euro pallet. It can then bear the protected EPAL mark and call itself a Euro pallet if so.

High-Resolution Inkjet Printing for Pallets and Wood

Our large character inkjet printer is the sustainable industry benchmark for pallet and wood marking.
  • 300-1200 dpi high-resolution printing
  • Prints on both porous and non-porous surfaces (timber, plaster, cardboard, plastic)
  • Option for up to 8 ink colours for high-contrast branding
  • Accredited for EPAL and IPPC applications
  • Label-free printing reduces waste and material costs, improving sustainability

Print logos, text, and traceability codes directly on wood. Sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective.

Automated Labelling for Pallets and Wooden Packaging

i-mark offers the most compact pallet labelling solution that can fit into any end of line. Our perfect solution for pallet labelling offers speed, up to 180 pallets labelled per hour, whilst maintaining the highest levels of accuracy with features such as Smart Tamps, Correction Application Sensor and Barcode verifiers.

Our scalable label printing systems can apply print on demand as well as preprinted labels in one operation to your pallets and wood.

Thanks to a wide range of different applicators, it is possible to attach labels on up three sides on stacked pallets of variable heights.  Or even across the corner of the pallet.

The labellers are controlled with user friendly interfaces on the HMI which display real time information of the current stage of the pallet labelling process, enabling reliable and extremely precise pallet labelling.

Automatic Labellers; utilised when automating the labelling process of boxes and containers prior to shipping or palletisation, savings 10’s of thousands of pounds per annum.

Our scalable label printing systems can apply print on demand as well as preprinted labels in one operation to your packaging.

Thanks to a wide range of different applicators, it is possible to attach labels to one side or two sides. Or even across the corner of the box or packaging that the label is being applied to. The labellers are controlled entirely with electric servo motors, which enables reliable and extremely precise cosmetics labelling.

Settings can be made via the integrated touch control panel or centrally from your software through Loftware Nicelabel.

The perfect cloud based message management solution.

The comprehensive message creation solution providing centralised marking and coding formats integrated into manufacturing system programs eradicating production line operator intervention thus preventing costly errors

The Loftware NiceLabel software integration into manufacturing system software is crucial when looking to devolve coding information across multiple printers which in turn are across multiple stages of the manufacturing process i.e. primary to secondary to tertiary, and remove the costly errors experienced through operator errors at the production line.

The ideal message creation solution for pallet and wood businesses Cloud can be up and running in minutes whilst having everything you need to manage your entire message creation process, from message design and template management to printing.

Capable of starting small and/or local it can be easily expanded to multiple locations. You also benefit from one of the most secure Cloud platforms available on the market in Microsoft Azure.

The solution for when printing online is not an option, replacement for stencilling or ticket labelling systems and hand applied labels or for product samples.

The Inkjet (Thermal Handheld) range boasts three handheld options which provide high resolution characters up to 12.5mm to 50mm in height available with a large variety of ink colour options suitable for any substrate. Using this technology enables you to have cost-effective, flexible and fast product identification with reliability and accuracy when you don’t have a traditional conveyor process, or when you need a flexible solution to an urgent code requirement.

EPAL approved system ensures full compliance with industry standards, eliminating concerns about meeting pallet marking regulations. Pre-approved technology simplifies implementation, reducing approval processes and speeding up deployment.

No engineering expertise required, printers can be set up in minutes, cutting out the need for specialist support. Easily move printers between lines to respond quickly to breakdowns or production spikes, minimising downtime.

Inkjets (Thermal Inline) were introduced as entry level, large character, high resolution, digital printing technology. Designed for lower volume pallet and other wooden substrates.

Boasting high resolution characters ranging from 12.5mm to 100mm in height and in variety of colour options.

In the pallet and wood industry, printing systems must be highly flexible as substrates change frequently. The in-line inkjet (thermal) printers revolutionise pallet and wood marking. Their smart, compact design houses advanced, intuitive functionality and unparalleled connectivity. Print information can be changed quickly and easily via the integrated touchscreen, web browser or even smartphone.
